@Nursebookie- Gathering Storm review

Speakeasy
Mobster wives
Rum Runners

I enjoyed this first book in the Rum Runners’ Chronicles about a recently widowed wife of a mobster and bootlegger named Edith Duffy who moved to Miami For a new start only to find herself back in the business.

Right from the first chapter, this book really knew how to portray the excitement and danger of the lives of the rum runners in Miami with speed boat chases and political intrigue, and a cast of characters you are going to love reading about like Mrs Mae Capone, wife of the infamous Al Capone from Chicago.

Edith is unlike any strong woman you will be reading about in any historical fiction novels. She has a fearless flair about her and would not flinch or faint at the sight of blood or seeing a gun. As a matter of fact, the adrenaline rush brings her to life. The writing is just brilliant. The atmospheric setting of Miami immersed me into the sophisticated and mob style of living large and always in the shadows of danger and risking your life and livelihood.

I highly recommend this book. I will definitely be picking up the rest of the series as I bide my breath for the next installation because historical fiction friends, it is just that good.

Thank you to author Sherilyn Decter @sdecterhirst for this gorgeous book and amazing Historical Fiction novel that was a 5 star read for me.
